Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures as I travel around the UK and in Europe

Leicester Cathedral

Leicester is one of the places that I’ve been to a lot for meetings and training but never actually spent time in. Now, of course, Leicester will be forever known as where the remains of Richard III was found in a car park and interred in the Cathedral.

The cathedral named for St Martin of Tours is one of the churches mentioned in the Doomsday Book for most of its life it was a parish church and only became a cathedral in 1927. Like all churches of this age, it has had several renovations over the last 1,000 years including building a 220-foot spire in 1862.

I didn’t allow enough time for my trip to Leicester and will need to revisit the city and its churches.

Here are some of the photos I took on the day.
