Lighting Strikes

Saturday, June 6th approx 6:30 pm I’m sitting on the sofa reading my latest murder mystery, and the sky goes ominously dark, almost black. Heavy fat raindrops start pounding at the windows and then Crash, Flash Bang and the world as we know it ends.

Lightning has hit the building.

My modem is dead, my landline is dead. Other people’s TVs and SetTop boxes are dead. Fortunately, no one is hurt, and there’,s no structural damage to the building.

What we have lost is the TV service, the fire alarm, the entryphone and the emergency pull cord system.

Here we are June 15th. The internet is back, phone lines are back. The fire alarm is working, the entryphone is working. Most of the emergency pull cord system is working but still no TV service.

It’s incredible how, in an instant, your world can turn upside down.
